To this day, Indigenous people use it for smudging and to ward off bad spirits. Burning it produces a a strong fragrance similar to anise that cleanses and purifies spaces.
Diamond willow fungus is a rare site here in Northeast BC. It is found on diamond willow trees and usually, if you find yourself a little, you’re bound to find more nearby! It has a pleasant smell somewhat like licorice. Normally you can smell the diamond willow fungus before you actually see it!
