Labrador Tea
In the Spring and Autumn, Nathaniel and I like to hit up bog areas here in Northeast BC in the search for the medicinal plant Labrador Tea. The Summer is when this amazing plant blooms, and its powerful energy is then in the flower instead of the leaves so we don’t pick it during the Summer months.
As Labrador Tea takes a long time to regenerate itself, we only harvest it sustainably.
There are so many uses that our ancestors have used Labrador Tea for which include:
suppression of coughs due to colds and flu
thinning of mucus to help make it easier to cough
lung infections
diarrhea
joint and muscle pain
relief of Seasonal Affectionate Disorder
depression
pain relief due to migraines and headaches
regenerating cells in the liver and kidneys
anti-parasitic compounds
sedating effects to help with insomnia
Simmering a strong concoction of Labrador Tea can be used externally for:
lice
parasites
mites
ring worm
scabies
eczema
psoriasis
The essential oils of Labrador Tea leaves are very potent, therefore, it is recommended to simmer only for 10 minutes or less. Do not use if pregnant or breast feeding. Consult your doctor prior to consuming.
